Today I got to miss out my last two periods (of which one was a free period), in favour of peer support. This involved every final year student going to the beach with every new student, in house groups.

Upon my arrival, instead of scurrying around with a rugby ball like the rest, I sat down on a hill, opened my bag, and pulled out Atonement (the book I am studying for English). I then proceeded to spend the rest of the beach time reading that book.

That's right. I went to the beach, on a nice, clear, sunny and hot day, and did school work.

I feel that as Head of Academic Support for my house, I was providing a positive influence for the younglings.

In other news, Atonement is a great book. Though I have seen the movie, and thus know every event that happens, the well-written book is still managing to grip me, and pull me in. Though I'm sure it would be better had I not seen the movie.

Moving on.

Buuks are teh suck.

Well sure... IF YOU CALL THAT A LIVING!

I ought to read more. I have a whole bunch of books (mostly Dean Koontz) that I have not yet read. I've hardly even gotten anywhere in Stephen Colbert's I am America (and so Can You).

Hopefully the fact that I am obligated to read this one book will spark a renewed interest in reading for me.

good for you

Seems like the perfect place for a murder mystery to occur!

I got a mysterious red patch on my arm during my stay at the beach.

This could be linked to something nefarious.

I don't think I've ever seen a movie based on a book and then tried reading the book.

Atonement looks like a worthy read, though, so if I ever find myself at a lack for literature, I shall grab a copy.

I'll tell you now that I wasn't planning on it.

Though from what I've read, the book seems better than the movie.

Not that I had originally thought it would be otherwise.

We all know the only reason anybody ever went to the movie was to see Keira Knightley strip down to her undergarments and jump in the water.

You don't strike me as an upright member of society and a good influence on the young ins. Also I will read that.

Well then just interpret it as that I was at a field trip intended for peer support for the littleuns, and decided to say "fuck it", as I didn't care much for them, and instead went the way of the loner and did my own thing.
